Another interesting bitter gourd recipe. Bitter gourd is cooked with onion and crushed red chilli and then tamarind juice is added. If you are a bitter gourd lover you will definitely like it. I think I added too much bitter gourd compared to the original recipe. Next time I'll exactly follow the recipe.

Pavakka Kichadi / Pachadi (Bitter Gourd in Coconut n Yogurt Gravy)
This is a traditional kichadi/pachadi from Kerala with regional variations in recipe. Here fried bitter gourd is cooked in a coconut and yogurt gravy along with other spices. Frying of bitter gourd and the addtion of yogurt help to reduce the bitterness of the gourd to some extent. I am a die-hard fan of pavakka and this is one of my favorite dishes.

Pavakka Chammanthi (Bitter Gourd Coconut Chutney)

I don't want to miss any bitter gourd recipes that I see in the blogs and this chutney is one among them. This bitter gourd-coconut-tamarind chutney is only mildly bitter and is mildly sour at the same time. I loved the nuttiness of roasted chana dal and it was a hit at home. It could be served with rice, idli or dosa.

Pavakka Thoran (Bittergourd stir-fry with coconut)
Me and my husband loves bitter gourd in any form. This is a simple stir fry recipe that I makes often to serve as a side dish with rice. This time I sauteed it a little bit more in the oil to reduce the bitterness of the 'really bitter' gourd that we get here.

Pavakka Theeyal (Bitter Gourd in fried coconut gravy)
To cooked bitter gourd, fried coconut gravy and other spices are added to make this curry. Bitter gourd could be shallow fried in oil first and then cooked to reduce the bitterness to some extent.
